Timing and arrival
How long does a visa take?
Processing typically takes 7 to 10 business days once the file is submitted. Timing is set by the Population and Immigration Authority, so we can’t promise a date for any one student.
Does the student need to be in Israel?
Yes. Families can complete their part before the flight, but we file only after the program confirms the student has landed. Students enter on an approved ETA-IL first.
How do we know when the visa is ready?
We tell the program and the parents when the visa is ready to collect. Programs see every student’s status on their dashboard, and parents see their own.
Documents
What do families need to provide?
A scan of the student’s passport, valid at least six months past the planned stay, and a scan of the birth certificate. It takes most parents about 15 minutes.
What is the Ishur Limudim, and who writes it?
It is the program’s letter confirming the student’s studies, which the visa file needs. We issue it for you on your letterhead, valid for two years, so your office doesn’t write them.
What if a passport is missing or about to expire?
We go back to the family directly and ask for what’s needed, so the program office isn’t in the middle.
For programs
How do we enroll?
Fill in one enrollment form with your program details and letterhead. We review it within 3 to 5 business days, then send your program link and dashboard login.
Who adds the students?
Either side. Your office can add students to the roster, one at a time or in bulk, or families can start from your program link. Either way, you confirm each student’s arrival.
Is there a setup fee?
No. Enrolling your program is free. You pay only per visa.
Pricing and payment
How much does a visa cost?
$499 per student at partner programs and $599 standard. Add $150 when a parent is an Israeli citizen.
Who pays, the program or the parents?
The program decides at enrollment. Parents can pay by card when they complete the application, or the program can pay for each student on a card on file.
Other services
Can a parent apply without the program?
No. IsraelExpat works only through enrolled programs. A parent whose program isn’t enrolled can ask the program office to enroll.
Do you still do license conversion or notarization?
No. IsraelExpat now handles student visas for yeshivas and seminaries only.
